Frequently Asked Questions about our Adoption

What are your adoption fees ?

Our current adoption fee is MKW12,000.

What do your adoption fees include ?

All adoptable animals have received a veterinary exam, spay/neuter surgery, distemper vaccine, de-wormer and flea and tick prevention medication. Depending on age some items may not have been completed at the stage of adoption and you as the owner will need to come back with the animal at the recommended time for the necessary treatments.

Who can adopt ?

LPSCA is open to all potential adopters who must apply and be approved before they can adopt a pet from LSPCA.

What are your requirements for adopting a pet ?

Potential adopters must be approved before adopting a shelter pet. An application can be completed online or in-person at the LSPCA.

Is it difficult to adopt ?

LSPCA has policies for approving adoptions. They are designed to ensure that each animal is placed with a responsible person prepared to make a lifelong commitment, and to avoid the kinds of problems that may have caused the animal to be brought to the shelter in the first place. If the screening process occasionally seems overly strict, try to remember that the shelter’s first priority is to protect the animal’s best interests.

How long will the adoption process take ?

The entire adoption process varies, with input required from us by reviewing the completed form but also from you on how quickly you provide the requested information. The goal is for the adoption to be completed within 2 to 3 days.

Where can I view pets up for adoption ?

Adoptable pets can be viewed here on our website or, better yet, you can come and visit the LSPCA shelter at our offices during normal working hours and get to meet all the animals we have up for adoption.

How often is your website updated ?

Adoptions that happen over the weekend are updated on our website by the end of day Monday at the very latest. We add new adoptable pets to our website every day throughout the week.

What happens if things don’t work out ?

Please be certain that you understand what is involved with adopting a new pet. And be prepared to put the time into working with your new pet. The reward you get will certainly be more than the effort you’ll have to invest. After every effort has been made on the part of an adoptive family to successfully integrate a pet into their family, and serious issues remain, we will take dogs back.
